Pagosa Springs Veterans celebrate the annual free dentistry day offered at Pagosa Smiles. Pagosa Smiles is proud to have been blessed with the opportunity to donate over $250,000 worth of dentistry to our amazing Veterans over the years.

Do they receive respect and praise everywhere they go? No.
The best way that I have found to uplift, encourage, thank, and bless our Veterans is to give them a day of free dentistry! I thank every person that comes in for their service to our country. I make it clear that we receive no outside funding & that my team and I are NOT getting paid to be here.
The astonished look on their faces is always followed by gratitude (and even an occasional tear).
The day is voluntary. If the team member doesn’t want to help, they don’t have to be at work that day. I have found that it draws the team closer together & gets them to buy into a deeper understanding of why we exist — to serve others.
It is a busy day! We see around 30 patients on our free Veteran’s day.
We started out offering this service on the day of Veteran’s Day.
What we found was many soldiers were glad to see us but sad to miss out on parades and picnics. We now pick a day that is before or after Veteran’s day to do our free day. With this year’s donation of $21,759 in dental care on our Veteran’s free dental day, we have donated more than a quarter of a million dollars in dental services!
What services do we provide?
I provide dentistry that I can complete for them in one day. Denture re-lines fillings, cleanings, fluoride treatment and extractions. My Dad started doing the free Veterans Day dental care back in the 1990s. He retired in 2015 and passed the torch to me. The day leaves me and my team tired but refreshed. The thanks we receive are profound & heartfelt.
